Partners in Sign (PINS), established in 1991, is owned and operated by a fully certified interpreter with many years of interpreting experience and a reputation for personal involvement. This top-down commitment to personal attention speaks to the nature of interpreting itself. Each assignment must be handled with sensitivity to the needs of the individuals and the setting. The PINS staff evaluates every request and hand-picks the interpreter with the most relevant training and experience for the assignment.
PINS has developed a team of over 75 gifted and multi-talented interpreters to fill the varied needs of this diverse community. They utilize ASL, contact sign, and the other forms of visual/gestural communication. The group exemplifies the region’s most skilled and committed professionals experienced in serving a broad range of customers, from formal events to social services, from theatrical performances to staff meetings.
Rates
Please contact us directly by email, information@pinsdc.com, or phone, (202) 638-5630, to request current rates.
Billing
Some assignments will incur a transportation charge. All assignments are billed to the nearest half hour. For example, an assignment from 8:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. would be billed as 3 hours. Any assignment lasting more than one hour requires two interpreters, and we will automatically send two interpreters. If one interpreter must work more than two hours alone, the assignment will be billed at the rate of time and one half.Special discounted rates may be negotiated for fixed-schedule or continuous services.
Payment
Payment is due upon receipt of our invoice unless special arrangements have been made. We accept government or corporate VISA, MasterCard, American Express credit cards, and electronic funds transfer (EFT).
Cancellations
Scheduling and coordinating an assignment requires substantial administrative work and preparation. Consequently, if an assignment is cancelled — for any reason — with fewer than three business days (or 72 business hours) notice, you will be billed for the full amount.
Overtime
If an assignment runs later than the specified time, the interpreter may be asked to stay longer, but is not required to do so. Any additional time will be billed to you.
